It was an exciting race for Hanneke de Boer, maar eventually the Dutch triathlete was the strongest at the Middle Distance. Her swimming was a bit tough, but while cycling and running she was going fast enough to win. The race took her 4.38.35 to finish.
It was a great race for her. ,,I felt strong and the wind was no problem today. After 75 kilometer I took over the lead in the race. The last part, while we had wind from ahead, it went all very well.”
While she was running, De Boer got caught by the British Dione Allen in the second round. ,,But I was seeing her all the time and after 17 kilometer I caught her back. I didn’t expect to win today, I didn’t even know who was participating at all, but it’s great!
Allen did stay close to De Boer. The British finished in 4.39.07. The Dutch Jorieke Casteleijn became third in 4.42.03.
