Challenge Family extends contract with Challenge Almere-Amsterdam

CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM, the largest and best know triathlon in The Netherlands, will continue to operate at CHALLENGEFAMILY for the next five years. Recently, both parties find agreement about the extension of their contract.

This news comes with satisfaction for race director Richard Belderok. ,,We are very happy that CHALLENGEFAMILY shows this confidence in us. And this confidence is for such a long period of time. With this commitment over many years we can confidently take the following steps to ensure that participants, volunteers and our partners are part of the most exciting triathlon weekend in The Netherlands. We would like to give everyone the possibility to experience this beautiful sport: beginners and pro’s, younger and older athletes.” This year CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM will be held in the weekend of 7, 8 and 9 September.

Patrick Seinstra, chairman of the board of CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM, also sees that joining CHALLENGEFAMILY was a good decision. ,,In addition to a growing number of participants, the quality, image and international visibility of our triathlon has clearly improved. For us it was a simple choice to extend the five-year contract. We look forward to continuing our pleasant collaboration with CHALLENGEFAMILY.”

Zibi Szlufcik, CEO of CHALLENGEFAMILY, really wanted to give his compliments to CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM. ,,We are delighted to extend our contract with one of the world’s largest triathlon events: CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM attracts around 3,500 athletes every year. The seamless organization, the brilliant hospitality, the endless support of the city of Almere, her citizens and the Flevoland region, of course the rich history of the event and the ‘all about the athlete’ approach, makes this race unique and special. We are very proud of this extension of the contract and would like to thank the management, the team and the volunteers who form the heart and soul of CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM.”

About CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM

Almere is famous in the history of triathlon. After Hawaii, the Holland Triathlon is the oldest triathlon in the world. Special winners were pioneers such as Axel Koenders and Gregor Stam, as well as Gerrit Schellens, Frank Heldoorn and Georg Potrebitsch. Yvonne van Vlerken, Heleen bij de Vaate and Chrissie Wellington have been on women’s podium in recent years. Several European and World Championships have been held in Almere. The fastest race, with a finish time of 7 hours, 57 minutes and 46 minutes, was realised by Jan van de Marel in 1999. Women’s record is for Yvonne van Vlerken. In 2017 it took her 8.51.13 hours to finish the race.

Since 2013, the Holland Triathlon has been renamed CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM.
