Fireworks show

This year (2026), Challenge Almere-Amsterdam is celebrating its 45th anniversary. That in itself is a unique milestone, but the celebration is made even more special by the anniversary of the city of Almere, which turns 50 this year. Reason enough for an even bigger afterparty at Challenge Almere-Amsterdam!

On Saturday, September 12, we will conclude our Long Distance Triathlon – which is also a European Championship – with a fireworks show lasting over ten minutes. This fireworks show will start after our last finisher, which we will expect between 10:45 -11.20 PM. Special fireworks pontoons will be placed in the Weerwater, near the Esplanade, creating a beautiful display of visual fireworks. Combined with specially curated music, these fireworks will serve as a festive conclusion to an already celebratory triathlon weekend.

Of course, the fireworks show is free to watch for everyone – athletes, spectators, and enthusiasts who may not be very into triathlon, but love fireworks and a good afterparty. Everyone is welcome! Watching the fireworks show from the Esplanade is recommended – right in the middle of the festivities in our stadium and the foodtruck festival. However, there are a number of other hotspots where you also have a fantastic view of the show:
– Fantasiestrand. There is enough parking space available here.
– Lumièrepark.
– Weerwaterbrug*.

We do strongly urge everyone to pay close attention to any remaining athletes who may still be on the course.
*The Weerwaterbrug will only be accessible after the last athlete has passed, around approximately 10:45 PM.
