Challenge Almere-Amsterdam has been nominated for no fewer than two Challenge Family Awards. This year, Europe’s oldest race is in the running for the prestigious Challenge Family Race of the Year Award as well as the Best Run Course Award.
The Best Run Course Award was already won by Challenge Almere-Amsterdam in 2022, and in 2024 – last year – the race once again took home that honor. “It’s a confirmation that athletes appreciate our run course around The Weerwater. That doesn’t surprise us at all; it’s a beautiful mix of, on the one hand, the city and the crowded stadium, and on the other hand nature, water and a peaceful environment”, says Event Director Jefry Visser. “In addition, our run course is flat and fast. But it’s of course very special to see that this is not only recognized, but also acknowledged.”
The Challenge Family Race of the Year Award has not yet been won by Challenge Almere-Amsterdam. Last year, Challenge Peguera-Mallorca took home that prize. “Of course, we would very much like to win that one too,” Visser says. “We therefore hope that our athletes will vote for us in large numbers, because these awards are true people’s awards. That’s exactly why we find them so special; they are recognition from the athletes themselves – the very people for whom we do all of this.”
